Coastal Alabama Community College-North’s Jamarian Crain was rewarded for a solid season.
The 2017 Franklinton High School graduate was named an Alabama Community College Conference All-South Division Player.
“I feel like it was privilege for me from my success from last year to this year,” Crain said. “I improved a lot. It was basically a team effort. I just did my job to help us come out on top.”
This year, the sophomore batted .400 with a .494 on base percentage and a .504 slugging. The sophomore hit a homer, drove in 22 runs to go with five doubles and a triple and he scored 49 runs. Two of Crain’s most impressive stats came in stolen bases and his walk to strikeout ratio.
Crain led the conference with 40 stolen bases and he was caught just twice this season.
Crain also did a good job of putting the ball in play. He walked more than he struck out. He walked 20 times and struck out just 19 over 135 at bats.
“It was definitely a good year, but I feel like this year, I didn’t over complicate things and this year was a successful year just being able to do what it takes. It was definitely one of my go-to years,” Crain said.
This season, Coastal Alabama-North tallied a 34-23 overall record and was second in the south division of conference with a 22-10 mark. Wallace Community College-Dothan won the division at 27-5.
“It was a lot of fun just because of how close we became,” Crain said. “Last year, we had a lot of new faces. This year, we had 20-something sophomores and we controlled our own destiny. We did it all for each other. We didn’t have any selfishness within the team this year.”
