On March 18, 2017, Franklinton High School lost a dear alumnus. A 2016 graduate of Franklinton High School, Madison Claire Peco was active in several clubs and was a four year member of the FHS cheerleaders. Homecoming Queen and selected Most Beautiful her senior year, Peco will be best remembered for not only her beauty but also for her kindness and huge heart.

The FHS Student Council established the Madison Peco Award, beginning with the 2017 graduating class. This $1,000 award will be given annually to a female student who plans to attend college as well as one who exemplifies all the qualities that Madison exuded during her lifetime as well as her time spent at FHS. These include school spirit, community pride, academic achievement, love for one’s fellow man and one who has demonstrated a desire to excel and reach for the stars.

The recipient of the Madison Peco Award for 2019 is Cassidy Anne Stewart. For those who knew Peco would agree, the award is not a mere piece of paper. Instead, Stewart received a tiara, generously donated by Tyler Ross Jewelers. Jason and Patsy McKenzie, Madison’s parents and her younger brother Tyler, attended the FHS Honors Night to present this award.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Peco’s memory may do so by contacting Toni Tageant at FHS at 985-839-6781.

Special thanks are given to Dr. John and Misty Wyble, who hosted a fundraiser in October of 2018 to assist in funding this scholarship.
