Three Mt. Hermon athletes — Amuriel Williams, Kalei Hughes and Keondre Bunch — competed in the Class B State Meet that took place at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of LSU.
Williams took sixth in the 200 meters after completing the race in 27.71 seconds. Episcopal of Acadiana’s Kailie Williams was victorious in 26.24.
Hughes was eighth in the javelin with a throw of 96 feet, 1 inch. Castor’s Kelsey GIddens won at 135-8.
Bunch was seventh in Class B for the 100 after running the event in 11.80 seconds.
Vision Academy’s Princeton Holmes won a close race in 11.25. He won by 0.04 seconds over Glenmora’s Chanin Pikes, who ran an 11.29.
In order to reach state, the athletes had to get through two qualifying rounds. They had to come in the top four in their events at the district level to make it to regionals and then the top three at regionals to qualify for state.
