Bogalusa’s Morris victorious in the high jump

Bogalusa’s O’Layazha Morris was victorious in the high jump at the Region 3-3A Meet that took place Wednesday at West Feliciana.
Morris cleared the bar at 5 feet, 2 inches for the victory. Teammate Khrystian Scott tied Donaldsonville’s Tia Richard and Thomas Jefferson’s Caitline Louis-Juenne for ninth at 4-2.
Wednesday’s meet was a qualifier. The top three finishers from each event are headed to the Class 3A state meet that will take place Saturday, May 4, at Bernie Moore Stadium, which is located on LSU’s campus.
Prayja Bickham and Mary Ladner were eighth and 12th in the javelin with throws of 86-4 and 73-10. West Feliciana’s Destiny Carter won at 112-5.
Ta’Miya Crumedy was eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 46 seconds. Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Mary Nusloch won in 2:20.
Bogalusa’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams both took eighth with times of 52.18 seconds and 1:52. Both teams featured Ladner, Morris, Bickham and Scott.
Mentorship Academy won the 4×100 in 49.79 and Brusly was best in the 4×200 in 1:44.
Scott was 13th in the 100 at 13.63. Loranger’s Kiana Foster clocked a 12.34 to win.
Crumedy was 13th for the 100 hurdles with a time of 21.17. West Feliciana’s Kennedy London won in 14.88.
West Feliciana won a close team competition with 97 points, as three schools were within five points in meet where 20 teams tallied at least one point.
Brusly was second with 94, followed by Academy of the Sacred Heart’s 92.
Lusher Charter was fourth at 60 and Mentorship Academy’s 48 rounded out the top five.
