BHS’s Roberts, Thompson headed to state

Bogalusa’s Clydeterrious Thompson and Raheem Roberts won an event each in the Region 3-3A Meet that took place last Wednesday at West Feliciana.
Thompson was victorious in the long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 5.25 inches.
Roberts was best in the triple jump after recording a 45-2.5.
Wednesday’s competition was a qualifier. The top three from each event are headed to state. The Class 3A state meet will be Saturday, May 4, at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium.
Roberts is also headed to state in the javelin. He was third in that event, with a throw of 145-0. Lusher Charter’s Chandler Jones won at 158-1.
Thompson ran fourth in the 400 with a time of 49.73 seconds. West Feliciana’s Kam Jackson topped the event at 49.20.
Thompson was fifth in the 100 meters after running it in 11.24. Jackson won in 10.82.
Bogalusa’s 4×800 relay team was fifth at 9 minutes, 1 second. The team featured Dustin Wager, Davin Phillips, Dre’Toris Mark and Donald Lewis.
University Lab won in 8:37.
Roberts was seventh in the high jump after clearing the bar at 5-10. He tied Abramson Science Academy’s Daurance McClendon, Madison Prep’s Eldred Jackson, Jewel Sumner’s Johnny Sims and Donaldsonville’s Clenard Mollere. The tiebreaker is fewest misses. McClendon was fourth, followed by Jackson, Sims, Roberts and Mollere.
Tyron Johnson and Mark ran seventh and ninth in the 100 hurdles with times of 17.33 and 17.87. St. James’ Shamar Smith won in 15 seconds.
Mark and Johnson were eighth and 11th for the 300 hurdles with times of 44.19 and 46.09. Jewel Sumner’s Dominic Haney won in 40.26.
Kalik Foster took eighth for the discus with a throw of 103-7. Lusher Charter’s Jorren Butler won at 140-10.
Roberts and Thompson were eighth and ninth in the 200 with times of 23.20 and 23.36. Jackson won at 21.95.
Wager finished eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:13. Haynes Academy’s Yves Uwinama won in 4:40.
Lewis and Wager ran ninth and 13th for the 800 with times of 2:15 and 2:23. Archbishop Hannan’s Victor Harvey won in 2:02.
Wager was 10th for the 3,200 in 12:08. Uwinama bested the event in 10:32.
Bogalusa’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams were 10th and 11th respectively with times of 45.65 and 1:36. Both groups had La’Darious Spikes, Shadwick Gamble, John Downey and Haikem Thompson.
Bogalusa was seventh in the team competition, with 34 points in a meet that had 22 teams tally at least one point.
West Feliciana won with 111 points.
Lusher Charter and Jewel Sumner tied for second with 63 each, followed by University Lab’s 55 and Baker’s 42 to round out the top five.
