Ben’s Ford’s Stewart runs 2nd in the 800 in district meet

Franklinton’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams were victorious at the District 8-4A Meet that was held Tuesday, April 16 at Lakeshore.
The 4×100 team completed the event in 53.17 seconds and the 4×200 ran in 1 minute, 52 seconds. Both teams featured Jalyn Bickham, Tammira Thomas, Derranajuh Warren and Kassidy Nielson.
Tuesday’s meet was a qualifying meet. The top four finishers from each event made it to the Region 3-4A Meet that will take place on Wednesday at Thibodaux.
Several more Lady Demons made it to regionals.
Nielson was second in the 200 with a time of 27.89. Salmen’s Trinity Benson won in 25.66.
Aleria Dillon took second for the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 8 inches. She tied Pearl River’s Remi Crawford for first. The tiebreaker is the athlete’s second-best throw, so Crawford won and Dillon was second.
Warren was third in the 100 with a 13.40. Benson ran a 12.01 to win. Franklinton’s Jada Robinson was sixth at 13.99.
Daneria Magee took third in the javelin with a throw of 78-6. Crawford won at 106-10.
Drahcir Magee was fourth in the 300 hurdles, high jump and long jump. Magee ran a 59.1 in the 300 hurdles, she cleared the high jump bar at 4-6 and long jumped 13-11.5. Salmen’s Maya Calloway won the 300 hurdles in 55.16. Lakeshore teammates Jasmine Thomas and Miranda Tillery tied for first in the high jump with a 5-4. The tiebreaker is fewest misses, so Thomas won and Tillery was second. Lakeshore’s Katia Shostak won the long jump with a distance of 16-7.4.
Also for Franklinton, Trinity Bryant was sixth in the 400 at 1:16. Benson won in 1:03.
