Trio of Lady Jacks, relay team all win an event at league meet

Boglausa’s O’Layazha Morris, Prayja Bickham, Ta’Miya Crumedy and the Lady Jacks’ 4×200 relay team all captured one event in the District 7-3A Meet that took place at Jewel Sumner on Wednesday.
Morris won the high jump after clearing the bar as 5 feet, 0 inches. Teammate Khrystian Scott was second at 4-2.
Bickham was victorious in the javelin with a throw of 96-9. Teammate Mary Ladner was fourth at 74-0.
Crumedy won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 42 seconds.
The Lady Jacks 4×200 relay team was victorious with a time of 1:51. The team featured Morris, Scott, Bickham and Ladner.
Bogalusa’s 4×100 relay team, which had the same runners as the 4×200 team, was second after running the event in 51.82 seconds. Jewel Sumner topped the race with a time of 51.72.
Wednesday’s meet was a qualifying meet. The top four finishers from each event are headed to regionals. The Region 3-3A Meet takes place Wednesday at West Feliciana.
Scott and Crumedy qualified in one more event each.
Scott was fourth in the 100 at 13.62. Loranger’s Kiana Foster won in 12.21. Ladner was fifth with a time of 13.63.
Crumedy ran fourth in the 100 hurdles in 20.96. Loranger’s Tori Burton won in 18.69.
Also coming in the top six for Bogalusa were Bickham and Tenitha Taylor.
Bickham was fifth for the 200 in 28.60. Foster won in 25.21.
Taylor was sixth in the shot with a distance of 20-7.75. Jewel Sumner’s Tykaya Robertson won in 29-0.
Albany’s Abby Howell is the Field MVP and Jewel Sumner’s Jonee Sims is the Track MVP.
Bogalusa took third place in the team competition with 52 points, as five teams scored at least one point.
Loranger won the meet with 127 points.
Jewel Sumner was second with 113 with Archbishop Hannan’s 48 in fourth, followed by Albany’s 35.
