Trio of Buccaneers, relay team qualify for South State Meet

Three Bowling Green track athletes and a relay team are headed to the South State Meet on Monday at Silliman Institute.
The Buccaneers’ 4×100 relay was second after running the event in 47.98 seconds. The group featured Jekorvian Long, Braden Edwards, Matthew Downs and Larry Dillon. Wayne Academy won in 46.74.
Monday’s meet was the athletes’ opportunity to make it to the South State Meet. The top four from each event made it to South State. The South State Meet is taking place on Wednesday with the field events and next Saturday with the running events. The competition is being held at Silliman Institute.
Dillon was third in the 100 meters with a 12.16. Wayne Academy’s Mikey Watson won at 11.57.
George Nobles was third in the shot put with a distance of 33 feet, 5 inches. Wayne Academy’s Josia Reyes won at 36-9. Bowling Green’s Aiden Hodges was seventh at 30-4.5.
Hodges made it to state in the discus with a third-place finish after throwing a 91-6. Reyes won with a 99-0.
