Pine’s McKenzie heading to regionals

Pine’s Tanner McKenzie made it to regionals during the District 3-III Tournament that took place Wednesday at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette.
The top four teams along with the top four golfers for non-advancing teams made it to regionals.
McKenzie tied The Dunham School’s Ryan Dupuy for ninth place overall in a field of 42, as both recorded an 82. McKenzie was the top finisher among the golfers who were not on qualifying teams.
Ascension Episcopal’s Canon Clark was the top individual with a 70.
Teammate Jay Mendell and The Dunham School’s Gabriel Gallego tied for second with a 75, followed by Episcopal of Baton Rouge’s Boyd Owens’ 76 and Ascension Episcopal’s Eli Ortego rounded out the top five with a 77.
Ascension Episcopal won the team competition with 303.
The top four golfers scores were used for team honors.
University Lab and The Dunham School tied for second with a 334 and Episcopal of Baton Rouge was fourth with a 380.
Regionals take place on April 24 at Santa Maria Country Club in Baton Rouge.
