Pine’s Clark victorious in discus at District 9-2A Meet

Pine’s Makia Clark was victorious in the discus at the District 9-2A Meet that took place at Christ Episcopal School on Monday.
Clark threw the discus 86 feet, 7 inches.
Clark was also third in the shot put, with a distance of 27-1. Northlake Christian School’s Leah Whittington won at 32-8.
Monday’s meet was a qualifier. The top four from each event are headed to the 3-2A Regional Meet that will be held next Wednesday at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans.
Two Lady Raiders individuals and two relay teams were third.
Ateria Williams was third in the 200 meters after running the race in 27.92 seconds. Amite’s Tai’Brien Stirgus won in 27.16.
Jaden Story was third in the 400 after clocking a time of 1 minute, 31 seconds. Northlake Christian School’s Bella Elias posted a 1:10 to win the event.
Pine’s 4×100 relay team and 4×200 were both third with times of 1:01 and 2:08, respectively. Both teams included Nadia Jung, Williams, Breanna Brumfield and Story. Northlake Christian School won the 4×100 at 53.29 and Amite captured the 4×200 in 1:51.
Jung and Story were fifth and seventh in the long jump, with distances of 14-6 and 11-4.5. Amite’s Brokela Coleman won at 17-4.
Williams and Jung ran sixth and seventh in the 100, with times of 14.20 and 14.67. Northlake Christian School’s Kyren Whittington won in 13.11.
Four schools tallied at least one point in the team competition.
Northlake Christian School won with 110 points.
Amite was second at 74, followed by Pope John Paul II’s 65 and Pine’s 31.
