BHS’s Morris, 4×100 team 2nd in Strawberry Relays

Bogalusa’s O’Layzsha Morris was second in an individual event and the 4×100 relay team was runner-up in the Strawberry Relays that were held in Hammond at Southeastern Louisiana University on Friday.
Morris tied Walker’s Lilly Waguespack, as each cleared the bar at 5 feet, 2 inches. The tiebreaker is fewest misses, so Waguespack won and Morris was second. Bogalusa’s Khrystian Scott tied Live Oak’s Mary Grace Byers, French Settlement’s Erika Mccrystal and Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Olivia Boyd, with all four athletes clearing the 4-6 mark.
Morris and Scott were also part of the Lady Jacks’ 4×100 relay team that also included Mary Ladner and Prayja Bickham. The time was 52.80 seconds. Walker won in 50.69.
The same group was also fifth in the 4×200 at 1:54. St. Thomas Aquinas won in 1 minute, 47 seconds.
Ta’miya Crumedy took seventh in the 100 hurdles in 21.81. Walker’s Ralyn Johnson was the winner in 17.01.
Crumedy and Ta’Kyla Collins ran ninth and 13th in the 400 with times of 1:11 and 1:20.
Crumedy was ninth in the 800 in 2:53. Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Mary Nusloch won in 2:20.
Kashawn Brown and Scott took 10th and 16th in the 100 with times of 14.14 and 15.14. Salmen’s Trinity Benson won at 12.37.
Bickham and Ladner were 12th and 13th in the javelin with throws of 70-11 and 64-4. St. Scholastica Academy’s Raleigh Quinlan won at 106-1.
Tenitha Taylor was 13th in the shot put at 18-10. Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Mykhala Coleman won at 36-8.
Walker won the team competition with 121 points, as 12 teams tallied at least one point.
Academy of the Sacred Hart was second with 102, followed by Live Oak’s 81, St. Thomas Aquinas’ 74 and Cabrini’s 54.
Bogalusa was ninth with 18 points.
