Mt. Hermon’s Williams tops 2 events in District 7-B Meet

Mt. Hermon School’s Amuriel Williams captured two events at the District 7-B Meet, Ashiriah Williams and Kalei Hughes won one event each and the 4×200 relay team was victorious Wednesday at Broadmoor School.
Amuriel Williams captured the 100 meters and the 200. She ran the 100 in 13.85 seconds and the 200 in 28.86. Teammate Jumyrie Williams was second in the 200 with a time of 14.47 and Adrianna was sixth at 32.62.
Ashiriah Williams topped the long jump with a distance of 13 feet, 7 inches. Teammate Sikoya Jackson was third for the long jump at 12-2.5.
Hughes bested the shot put at 29-0. Teammate Ansley Knight was fifth with a 24-5.
The Lady Jackets won the 4×200 relay race after running in 2 minutes, 1 second.
Sticking with the relay teams, the 4×100 team was second in 57.84 and the 4×400 at 5:37. The 4×100 and 4×200 teams featured Jumyrie Williams, Kathrine Quin, Tate and Amuriel Williams. The 4×400 team had Sydnei Tullos, Bailey Fortenberry, Layla Riley and Quin. Maurepas won the 4×100 in 56.18 and Runnels captured the 4×400 at 4:58.
Hughes was second in the javelin with a throw of 88-5. Holden’s Jaycee Hughes won with a distance of 100-0. Mt. Hermon’s Hannah Hughes was seventh at 51-2.
This meet was a qualifying meet for the regionals. The top four finishers from each event advanced to the Region 3-B Meet. Regionals will take place April 22 at McNeese State University.
Several more Lady Jackets made it to regionals.
Tate was third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 20.41. Runnels’ London Deshotels won in 19.22.
Ashiriah Williams and Jackson were third and fourth in the triple jump with distances of 28-7 and 27-5.25. Maurepas’ Ava Borskey won the triple jump at 35-5.25.
Kalei Hughes was fourth in the discus with a throw of 60-5. Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy’s Haile Woods won at 72-10.5. Mt. Hermon’s Layla Riley was sixth at 60-2.25.
Quin was fourth in the 800 with a time of 3:02. Runnels’ Annie Fink ran a 2:34 to win. Fortenberry was sixth at 3:13.
Also for Mt. Hermon, Fortenberry and Sydnei Tullos ran sixth and 10th in the 400 with times of 1:17 and 1:33. Runnels’ Blaiklee Guillot won in 1:06.
