Lady Demons compete in Allie Smith Invitational

Franklinton’s Lady Demons competed in the 2019 Covington High School Allie Smith Invitational that was held last Wednesday.
Drahcir Magee was part of a six-way tie for seventh place in the high jump, as all seven cleared the bar at 4 feet, 6 inches. The rest of the group was Ponchatoula teammates Chavanda Pierre and An’ya Pollard, Covington’s Ginina Biodini and Mandeville teammates Cameron Pike and Reagan St. Germain. Lakeshore teammates Miranda Tillery and Jasmine Thomas tied for tops in the event at 5-0. The tiebreaker was fewest misses, so Tillery won and Thomas finished second.
Aleria Dillon tied for eighth place in the shot put with Fontainebleau’s Ella Ayer, as both recorded a distance of 29-3. Mandeville’s Jarhonda Menina won at 36-7.5.
Magee was 18th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 1 minute, 1 second. Ponchatoula’s Niya Hunter won in 48.28 seconds.
Derranajuh Warren and Jada Robinson ran 18th and 19th in the 100 at 14.22 and 14.60. Salmen’s Trinity Benson was the winner with a time of 12.48.
Alexia Mason was 21st for the 400 after clocking a 1:15. Benson won in 1:02.
Yvone Tran finished 22nd in the long jump, with a distance of 12-7. St. Thomas Aquinas’ Chalah Rock won at 16-2.
Fontainebleau won the team competition with 121 points, with 16 teams posting at least one point. Mandeville was second with 94, followed by Ponchatoula’s 81, Slidell’s 50 and Salmen’s 37.
