Getting to Know

Joley Fortenberry

Mt. Hermon School’s Joley Fortenberry is a junior. She is softball player and a cheerleader.
In softball, Fortenberry has been a first-team all-district player.
This season, Fortenberry pitches and plays third base.
“Joley is a really really good kid,” Mt. Hermon softball coach Mary McGinnis said. “She does a really good job on the softball field. She’s done everything I’ve asked her to do this year. She even comes out here and helps me on Saturdays work on the field. She’s a great kid. Hard working, and like I said, she’ll play wherever I need her to play. She does a really good job.”

What do you enjoy most about playing your sports?
You get to interact with your teammates and be active.

What do you like best about being a student athlete?
You get recognized a lot.

Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
(Former Mt. Hermon softball coach) Mrs. (Barbara) Kerbow because she’s very positive and gets you going.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Carley Hoover from LSU. I like pitching, so I watch her videos and it helps me out a lot.

Favorite team?
LSU.

Best thing about Washington Parish?
We’re small and everybody knows each other.
