Bogalusa Little League opens Saturday

Bogalusa Little League Baseball will open Saturday at the Avenue U Ballpark. The day will begin with a parade at 9 a.m.
The parade gets under way at Michael Herrington Ballpark. From there, the parade will proceed west on Davis Street and right on Bayer Street. The parade will go left on Poplas Street and go straight ahead before continuing on Montgomery Street until Louisiana Avenue. It will then go left on Louisiana Avenue and proceed to Richmond Street. It will continue to Columbia Street before turning right on Sixth Street and going to Avenue U. It will turn left on Avenue U and head to Spartan Drive until it turns left on Spartan Drive and arrives at the Avenue U Ballpark.
The parade is scheduled to last about 40 minutes from the starting point to where it ends.
At the ballpark, the Opening Day Ceremony is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m.
The Opening Day Ceremony will feature a welcome, a prayer, the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, the Little League Pledge, Volunteer Pledge, Presidential Address, a special presentation and special recognition.
Then the teams will be introduced.
After the intros, Washington Parish President Richard “Ned” Thomas will throw out the first pitch.
Then the games begin.
On Friday, The Bogalusa Little League is holding a fundraiser.
The menu is grilled chicken and a loaded potato that will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The cost is $10.
