BHS relay team, 3 athletes 2nd in meet

Bogalusa’s O’Layzha Morris, Prayja Bickham and Blasia Magee and the Lady Jacks’ 4×100 relay team took second place in events at the Cowboy Relays that were held March 29 at Jewel Sumner.
Morris cleared the 5-foot bar for the second-place finish in the high jump. Franklinton’s Drahcir Magee and Loranger’s Avie Thompson tied for fifth at 4-4. Outstanding Field winner West Feliciana’s Destiny Mitchell won the event with a height of 5-3.
Bickham was second in the javelin with a throw of 91 feet, 10 inches. West Feliciana’s Destiny Carter won at 92-7.
Blasia Magee took second for the 300 hurdles with a time of 54.63 seconds. Teammate Tenisha Miller was fourth in 55.19. West Feliciana’s Emma Temple won in 52.85.
Bogalusa’s 4×100 meter relay team was runner up after clocking a 52.60. The team featured Mary Ladner, Morris, Khrystian Scott and Bickham. Franklinton was fourth in 53.05. Franklinton’s group consisted of Jalyn Bickham, Tamirria Thomas, Derranajuh Warren and Kassidy Nielson. West Feliciana won in 52.05.
Franklinton’s 4×200 relay team was third with a time of 1 minute, 53.75 seconds. Bogalusa took fifth in 1:54. Both teams’ 4×200 runners were the same as their 4×100 group. Amite won the close race in 1:53.24.
Wrapping up the relays, Bogalusa was fourth for the 4×400 with a time of 5:03. The Lady Jacks’ group had Ta’Miya Crumedy, Magee, Cameron Price and Ta’kyla Collins. West Feliciana won in 4:36.
Several more individuals were in the top six, including Franklinton’s Nielson, Raelyn Gross and Yvone Tran and Bogalusa’s Crumedy, Miller and Ladner.
Nielson and Bickham ran fourth and fifth in the 200 with times of 28.31 and 28.69. West Feliciana’s Kennedy London won in 26.15.
Crumedy took fourth in the 800 in 2:50. Tran was sixth in 2:56. West Feliciana’s Mathilde Fox-Smith won at 2:33.
Ladner placed fifth in the 100 at 13.80 seconds. Kennedy won in 12.41.
Crumedy and Miller clocked a 20.70 and 20.73 for fifth and sixth in the 100 hurdles. Loranger’s Tori Burton won in 18.43.
Gross was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 29-6. Amite’s Jalencia Pierre won at 34-6.5.
West Feliciana’s Kelly Goff was the winner of the Outstanding Track Award.
West Feliciana won the team competition with 182 points, as eight teams scored at least one point.
Loranger was second with 102.5, followed by Kentwood’s 67, Jewel Sumner’s 66 and Bogalusa’s 53 to round out the top five. Franklinton was eighth with 18.5.
