Franklinton suffers 2 late losses in league contests

Franklinton’s Demons suffered late losses to Lakeshore and Pearl River in District 8-4A games this week.
Franklinton suffered an 8-3 loss to Lakeshore in Tuesday’s home game.
The Demons led 3-2 through six innings, but Lakeshore scored six runs in the seventh to win.
Wyatt Verret went 3-for-4.
Jared Jenkins singled twice, drove in a run and scored a run.
Trent Varnado had two hits and a run scored.
Landon Keller singled and scored a run.
Richard Berry, Jordan McKenzie and Hunter Blackwell all had a hit.
Two days later, the Demons were defeated by Pearl River, 3-2, on the road.
Franklinton trailed 2-0 through six innings and tied the contest with a pair of runs in the seventh, but Pearl River tallied a run in the bottom of the seventh for the win.
Verret doubled and drove in a run.
McKenzie doubled.
Bracey and Keller both singled.
Jenkins recorded an RBI and A.J. Magee scored a run.
Garrett Maxwell was solid on the mound. He allowed three runs on five hits with five strikeouts and a walk over 6-2/3 innings.
Franklinton has lost five of its last six games. Four of those losses have been by three runs or fewer and Franklinton had a one-run lead after six innings against Lakeshore.
