Local powerlifters compete at state

Franklinton teammates Joe Magee and Zack Brumfield were the top state powerlifting place finishers from Washington Parish and all nine local lifters set at least one personal record.
Both lifters were fifth in their weight classes.
Magee, who is in the Division II 242s, tallied a 1,320 total. Magee squatted 485, bench-pressed 375 and a 460 deadlift.
Franklin Parish Jacob Martin is the state champion with a 1,425.
Brumfield is in the 275s. He posted a 1,280 total. Brumfield squatted 445, benched 375 and deadlifted 460. Brumfield set personal bests in all three.
Teammate Dakota Gulsby was eighth in the 275s. He had a 1,090 with a 440 squat, 210 bench and 440 deadlift. Gulby’s bench press is a person record. Also, Gulsby received a Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association Scholarship for college, based on his academics and performance.
Bogalusa’s Derek Keating was ninth in the Division III 275s with 1,105. He squatted 405, benched 285 and deadlifted 415. All three lifts were personal records.
Assumption’s Josh Ratcliff won the title with a 1,485.
Franklinton’s Drake Jenkins and Shimon Davis were both sixth in their weight classes.
Jenkins, who is in the 198s, lifted 1,140 pounds. He had a 450 squat, 285 bench and 405 deadlift. Jenkins set a personal record in the squat.
Lakeshore’s Terry Ferrier won with a 1,405.
Davis is in the 132s. He put up an 800. Davis squatted 300, benched 185 and deadlifted 315. Davis’ squat and deadlift are personal bests.
Terrebonne’s Jansen Pellegrin is the champion at 1,070.
Varnado’s T’Andrew Foster took seventh in the Division V 148s with a 725. Foster tallied a 225 squat, 160 bench and 340 deadlift. Foster set personal records in the squat, deadlift and total weight.
Delhi’s Jaqurius Lee is the champion after posting a 995 total.
Franklinton teammates Spencer Lambert and Mason Givens were all ninth in the state.
Lambert, who is in the 220s, posted an 1,145. Lambert squatted 430, benched 275 and deadlifted 440. All three lift numbers are personal bests.
Leesville’s Talyn Adams won the title at 1,555.
Givens, who is in the super heavyweights, recorded an 1,195. He squatted 420, benched 325 and deadlifted 450. Givens set a personal record in the squat.
Buckeye’s Andrew Dauzat is the champion with a 1,570.
