Franklinton topped by Fontainebleau on Friday

Franklinton’s Demons were defeated by Fontainebleau, 7-6, in a home game held Friday night.
Fontainebleau scored the game’s opening runs in the second inning when the Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead.
Jeff Lee began the frame with a double to right field. Jake Crawford walked. Lee scored later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Trey Kuylen and courtesy runner Will Kinzeler IV tallied when Logan Goodreau reached on an infield single. It was 2-0 after an inning and a half.
Franklinton responded with four in the bottom of the inning.
Jared Jenkins singled and Trent Varnado walked. Jordan McKenzie put down a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners, but a throwing error allowed McKenzie to reach and Jenkins to tally, trimming the lead to 2-1. Hunter Blackwell lifted a sacrifice fly, sending Varnado home. Magee later scored on a wild pitch, giving the Demons a 3-2 lead. Noah Breland, who had walked, ended up scoring on Richard Berry’s sacrifice fly and Franklinton had a 4-2 lead through two innings.
But Fontainebleau put up five runs in the third to go up, 7-4.
The first three hitters reached. Jack Schluter singled, Lee walked and Crawford was hit to fill the bases. After the first two outs, Kuylen singled home Schluster, Dillon Todd drew an RBI walk, sending Lee home to tie the game at 4-4, Goodreau hit a two-run single, plating Crawford and Kuylen and Todd scored the final run on a wild pitch. It was 7-4.
Franklinton got within one with single runs on the fourth-and-sixth innings.
In the fourth, Breland reached on an error, Jake Bracey walked and Richard Berry were hit to load the bases with one out. Jalen Burkhalter drove Breland home on a sacrifice fly, trimming the lead to 7-5.
In the sixth, Breland reached on an error. Pinch runner Trayshun Warren scored two batters on a sacrifice fly by Jalen Burkhalter. It was 7-6 through six innings.
Franklinton had an opportunity to tie or win the game in the seventh. Garrett Maxwell was hit and McKenzie walked with one out, but the game ended on a 1-5-3 double play in the 7-6 contest.
“Walks killed us. Four of their seven runs got on by walks,” Franklinton coach Jeff Tageant said. “I don’t we swung it terrible, we hit a lot of balls hard, they just went right at them. Hopefully those will begin to start to fall for us.”
Berry had a hit and an RBI.
Burkhalter recorded a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt.
Jenkins singled and scored.
Varnado walked and scored.
Maxwell was hit twice.
McKenzie scored a run after and had a sacrifice bunt.
Blackwell had a sacrifice bunt.
Breland walked and scored twice.
Bracey walked twice.
Fontainebleau’s Dillon walked twice and scored once.
Goodreau singled twice and drove in two runs.
Preston Canale doubled.
Schluter singled twice and scored a run.
Lee doubled, walked twice and scored twice.
Crawford walked, got hit and scored while courtesy runner Kinzeler tallied a run.
Wright had a hit.
Victor Schilleci V walked.
Kuylen had an RBI single.
