Washington Parish Tournament featured 4 local teams

Franklinton, Pine, Bogalusa and Varnado competed in the Washington Parish Tournament that took place at Franklinton and Pine from March 7-9.
Franklinton went 3-0 while Pine posted a 2-1 record, Bogalusa was 1-2 and Varnado had an 0-2 record.
Franklinton, which played a game each day at FHS, opened the tournament with a 6-4 victory over Walker on Thursday.
The Demons jumped out to a 5-0 lead through two innings. Walker countered with four runs over the next two innings, but the Demons did not allow a run over the final three innings.
Jared Jenkins singled and recorded a pair of runs batted in.
Wyatt Verret had a hit, an RBI and he scored two runs.
Landon Keller singled and scored a run.
Jordan McKenzie and Hunter Blackwell had a hit each.
Jalen Burkhalter scored two runs while Richard Berry posted one.
Nate Bracey was the winning pitcher and Garrett Maxwell collected the save.
The next day, Franklinton won against Edna Karr, 7-2.
Trent Varnado posted a hit, two runs batted in and two runs scored
Verret singled, tallied two RBIs and a run scored.
Burkhalter and Berry both singled, drove in a run and scored a run.
McKenzie singled.
Bracey scored two runs in the victory.
Winning pitcher Verrett allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks over six innings of work.
The Demons capped off their tournament play with an 11-0 five-inning win over Kentwood.
Franklinton scored a run in all four of the innings they hit. The Demons put up five in the second, four in the fourth and one each in the first and third innings.
McKenzie went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Berry had a hit, a run batted in and two runs scored
Maxwell tallied a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Bracey singled and scored a run.
Verret scored a run and drove one home.
Burkhalter, Jaheim Jefferson, Jenkins, Blackwell, Jake Bracey and Trayshun Warren all scored one run.
Pine won Thursday and Saturday, but lost Friday’s contest. All three games were at Pine.
The opener was a 10-0 win over Bogalusa in five innings.
Kaden Fersch singled, tallied two RBIs and three runs scored.
Kendall Sheridan doubled, drove in two and scored a run.
Ian Turner doubled and recorded an RBI.
Logan Temples posted a double in the victory.
Dallen Magee scored two runs and drove in one while Will Adams and Karson Voth tallied two runs each.
Winning pitcher Cory Barber allowed no hits with six strikeouts and two walks in three shutout innings.
Voth pitched two shutout innings of one hit ball with three strikeouts.
Friday’s game was a 6-2 loss to Kentwood.
Temples went 2-for-3 with a run batted in.
Adams doubled and recorded an RBI.
Turner singled and scored a run.
Kendall Sheridan singled.
Blaine Polk scored a run.
Zack Lemaire allowed just one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in six innings.
The Raiders committed four errors that led to five unearned runs for the game.
Pine rebounded from the loss in the big way by defeating Edna Karr, 16-2 in five innings. The Raiders scored a run in each of their four hitting innings. They had seven in the third, five in the first, three in the second and one in the fourth.
Kendall Sheridan had three hits, including a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Adams recorded a double, four driven in and two runs scored.
Fersch went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Coby Sheridan singled, scored two runs and drove one home.
Luke Fonda doubled, had an RBI and scored three runs.
Jeremy Williamson singled, drove in a run and tallied one.
Temples had a hit.
Magee scored a run and posted an RBI.
Triston Jones and Turner drove in a run each.
Polk and Voth scored a run each.
Adams was the winning pitcher.
Bogalusa lost to Pine and Pearl River 10-0 and 6-4 at Pine and Franklinton.
Saturday’s game was a 12-0 win over Varnado a Pine.
Varnado’s contests were a 30-0 loss to Jewel Sumner and 12-0 setback to Bogalusa on Friday and Saturday with both games at Pine.
