Mt. Hermon baseball wins doubleheader against Varnado

Mt. Hermon School’s Yellow Jackets defeated Varnado, 18-5 and 10-0, in a doubleheader held March 7 at the Bogalusa Sports Complex on Avenue B.
Mt Hermon’s Cray Schilling went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, two runs scored and was hit by a pitch.
Travell Brumfield was the winning pitcher.
Jaylen Peters and Kim McGowan scored two runs each for Varnado.
Jaheim Hooks tallied a run.
The game was tied 5-5 through three innings.
Mt. Hermon took a 6-5 lead through four innings and put up 12 runs in the fifth inning for the victory.
Trey Brumfield threw a complete game one-hit shutout in the second game. Brumfield recorded 11 strikeouts and three walks.
Colby Smith went 3-for-4, with every hit going for extra bases. Smith doubled twice and tripled once. He drove in five runs and scored two runs.
