Bogalusa’s Thompson takes home Outstanding Track in Friday’s meet

KENTWOOD — Bogalusa’s Clydeterrious Thompson was the Outstanding Track Athlete in the Cowgirl Relays on Friday at Jewel Sumner.
Thompson was a triple-event winner. He captured the 100-meter dash, the 400 meters and the long jump. Thompson ran the 100 in 11.35 seconds, the 400 in 51.45 and he long jumped 21 feet, 8 inches.
Franklinton’s Kian Conerly was third in the 100 with an 11.64. Teammate Brian Williams ran a 12.11 for sixth and Bogalusa’s Tony Harry, Mt. Hermon School’s Michquel Spears and Varnado’s Zantonio Peters were ninth through 11th with times of 12.73, 13.17 and 13.37.
Varnado’s Quincy James and Franklinton’s Shayland Allen ran fourth and fifth in the 400 after recording a 54.08 and a 54.52. Mt. Hermon’s Keondre Bunch, Franklinton’s Brandon Richardson and Mt. Hermon’s Kaden Curole were ninth to 11th with tallies of 1 minute, 3.53 seconds, 1:03.59 and 1:37.
Varnado’s James was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 20-10.5.
Bogalusa’s Raheem Roberts, Varnado’s Benny Jarvis, Franklinton’s Avant Monnie, Mt. Hermon’s Tristan Brumfield (tie) and Franklinton’s Conerly were ninth through 11th and 13th after posting jumps of 18-6.75, 17-10, 17-7, 17-5 and 15-5.5. Brumfield tied Loranger’s Devin Powell.
Bogalusa’s 4×200 relay team was victorious in 1:33.
The team featured Chadwick Gamble, Thompson, Roberts and Zamoriyon Washington.
Franklinton and Varnado ran fifth and sixth in 1:40.70 and 1:40.74.
Franklinton’s runners were Stacy Ard, Lamar Gray, Christian Burkhalter and Hayden Cotton.
Varnado’s team featured Caleb Allen, James, Devonte Magee and Kievs Brooks.
Franklinton’s Caleb Brown captured the javelin with a throw of 147-1. Teammate Jasper LaSalle was third at 133-6. Mt. Hermon’s Jeremy Bickham, Varnado’s Quovadis Bickham, Bogalusa’s Harry and Mt. Hermon’s Ljarvis Elzey were sixth, 10th, 13th and 14th with distances of 121-8, 96-4, 90-0 and 82-7.
Friday’s meet had four local teams in Bogalusa, Franklinton, Mt. Hermon and Varnado.
Varnado’s James tied Jewel Sumner’s Johnny Sims for second in the high jump with a 5-10. Sims won, as the tiebreaker is fewest misses. Franklinton’s Lavan Smith tied Fontainebleau’s Colin Gagnon, Loranger’s Deonte McGee and Jewel Sumner’s Daquan Carson for third at 5-8. After the tiebreaker, Gagnon was third, followed by Smith, McGee and Carson. Franklinton’s Lorenzo Hart was seventh, followed by Varnado’s Bickham at 5-6 and 5-0.
Varnado’s Adrian Bickham finished runner up in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.41. Bogalusa’s Dre’Toris Mark was next at 18.95, followed by Varnado’s Magee’s 19.71. Franklinton teammates Sidney Richardson and Ian Pittman ran sixth and seventh in 21.34 and 22.26. Jewel Sumner’s Dominic Haney won in 15.57.
Franklinton’s Mason Givens took third in the shot put at 37-6. Teammate Carson Ragas was next at 36-10. Mt. Hermon teammates Bickham and Elzey were 10th and 11th while Bogalusa teammates Kalila Foster and Derek Keating tied for 13th and Varnado’s T’Andrew Foster was 16th. Bickham had a 30-4, Elzey posted a 29-2, Bogalusa’s Foster and Keating both had a 28-8 and Varnado’s Foster recorded a 26-6. Outstanding Field winner Jewel Sumner’s Chester Martin won the event at 43-11.
Franklinton’s Spencer Lambert led a group of locals with a third-place finish in the discus after throwing 110-4. Varnado’s Adrian Bickham was next at 101-1. Bogalusa’s teammates Keating and Foster, Franklinton’s Zack Brumfield and Mt. Hermon teammates Elzey and Davin Sandifer were eighth through 10th and 15 and 16th with distances of 78-1, 76-11, 76-1, 60-8 and 50-1. Jewel Sumner’s Martin won at 118-1.
Bogalusa’s Dustin Wager took third for the 1,600 in 5:31. Teammate Davin Phillips, Varnado’s Tajamian Brumfield and Franklinton teammates Aden Hartzog and Kael Boyle were fifth through eighth with times of 5:49, 5:50, 5:59 and 6:00. Fontainebleau’s Owen Jensen won in 4:49.
Bogalusa’s 4×800 relay team was third with a time of 9:41.
Bogalusa’s squad had Wager, Phillips, Donald Lewis and Mark.
Fontainebleau won in 8:30.
Franklinton, Bogalusa and Varnado ran third through fifth in the 4×100 with times of 46.12, 48.04 and 48.82.
Franklinton’s team had Williams, Ard, Gray and Conerly.
Bogalusa had John Downey, Harry, Roberts and Gamble.
Varnado’s group consisted of Peters, Allen, Jarvis and Brooks.
Jewel Sumner won in 44.47.
In the 300 hurdles, Bogalusa’s Mark, Varnado’s Jarvis, Mt Hermon’s Brumfield and Franklinton’s Pittman and Richardson ran third through seventh in 45.75, 49.05, 50.16, 54.35 and 55.90. Jewel Sumner’s Courtney Bellazer won in 44.08.
Bogalusa’s Roberts was fourth in the triple jump at 40-7.5. Varnado’s Allen, Franklinton’s Hart, Franklinton’s Smith and Mt. Hermon’s Brumfield were seventh, eighth, 10th and 11th at 38-7, 36-11, 36-5 and 35-8. Loranger’s Coy Disher was the winner with a jump of 41-6.
Varnado’s Jarvis James recorded a fourth-place finish in the 800 with a time 2:20. Bogalusa’s Lewis was next at 2:24 with Franklinton teammates Boyle and Pittman along with Mt. Hermon’s Kelly Holden running ninth through 11th in 2:44.18, 2:44.40 and 2:57. Fontainebleau’s Marshall Buhler topped the event in 2:01.
Bogalusa’s 4×400 team was fourth in 4:02.
The team had Wager, Phillips, Lewis and Mark.
Varnado’s Brooks was fifth in the 200 at 24.47 with Bogalusa teammates Downey and Washington, Franklinton teammates Gray and Burkhalter and Mt. Hermon’s Spears running seventh to 11th with times of 25.29, 25.38, 25.74, 25.86 and 26.89. Fontainebleau’s Christian Bobo won in 23.55.
Bogalusa was third in the team competition with 83 points.
Franklinton, Varnado and Mt. Hermon were fourth through seventh with scores of 56, 48 and three points. Jewel Sumner won the event with 166 points, as seven teams posted at least one point.
