FHS’s Smith, Lambert capture event each

Franklinton’s Lavann Smith was victorious in the high jump and Spencer Lambert won the discus at the Ponchatoula Invitational that was held on March 1.
Smith and Christ Episcopal School’s Diego Davie both cleared the bar at 5-foot, 8-inches. The tiebreaker is fewest misses. Smith was first and Davie was second. Franklinton’s Lorenzo Hart high jumped 5-6 to finish third.
Lambert threw the discus 116-7 for the win. Teammate Dakota Gulsby was eighth at 94-5.
Jasper LaSalle and Caleb Brown were fourth and fifth in the javelin, throwing it 127-10 and 122-5, respectively. St. Paul’s School’s Rhett Barker won at 142-10.
Franklinton’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams were fifth and seventh.
The 4×100 team ran their race in 48.58 seconds while the 4×200 team’s time was 1 minute, 39 seconds. Both teams featured Bryan Williams, Cam Sims, Lamar Gray and Quaran Warren. Hammond won both events, with times of 45.79 and 1:32.
Mason Givens and Carson Ragas were seventh and 13th in the shot put with distances of 40-3 and 30-11. Kentwood’s Derek Cohn won the event at 47-11.5.
Sidney Richardson was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles and 11th for the 300 hurdles with times of 22.14 and 56.36. St. Paul’s School’s Harrison Elliot won both in 16.59 and 42.08.
Aden Hartzog took 12th in the 1,600 at 6:06. St. Paul’s School’s Jonathan Bertucci won in 4:38.
Williams and Warren ran 13th and 14th in the 100 with times of 11.84 and 12.14. Covington’s Chandler Washington was the winner in 10.80.
Gray took 14th and Warren was 18th for the 200 in 25.94 and 28.64. Washington was the winner in 22.92.
