Parish baseball tourney starts Thursday

The 2019 Washington Parish Baseball Tournament will take place March 7-9 at a Franklinton and Pine.

Four local teams are competing, including Franklinton, Pine, Bogalusa and Varnado.

Both locations are hosting doubleheaders on the first two days.

Walker is playing in both games at Franklinton on March 7.

The opener is against Pearl River in a 4 p.m. start.

Franklinton takes the field for the second contest that is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Over at Pine, Kentwood faces Jewel Sumner at 4 p.m.

Pine is playing Bogalusa with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.

The second day at Franklinton features Bogalusa and Pearl River at 4 p.m., followed by Franklinton and Edna Karr at 6:30 p.m.

At Pine, Varnado is going against Jewel Sumner at 4 p.m. before Pine and Kentwood play at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, two games are being played at Franklinton.

Jewel Sumner and Pearl River get things going at 11 a.m. with Franklinton and Kentwood to follow at 2 p.m.

Three contests are at Pine.

Bogalusa and Varnado open the action at 10 a.m., followed by Edna Karr and Walker at 1 p.m. The final game is Pine against Edna Karr at 4 p.m.
