Franklinton’s Lady Demons softball team began the year 1-1.
The opener was a 5-2 loss to Doyle at home on Monday, Feb. 18.
Bailey Brooks singled twice and drove in a run.
Ashlyn Ard posted a pair of hits, including a double.
Bailey Spears singled and had an RBI.
Aleigha Fussell doubled.
Brylie Fowler and Missouri Varnado both singled.
Aaliyah Faour scored a run for the Lady Demons.
Doyle scored all of its runs in the seventh inning.
Franklinton defeated Springfield, 12-6, on Friday in the Albany Tournament.
Fowler drove in four runs and scored twice in a 2-for-2 day that also included a double.
Varnado and Fussell each singled twice.
Welch singled, drove in three and tallied a run.
Allen doubled and had three RBIs.
Faour singled, drove in a run and scored three runs.
Brooks had a hit and a run scored.
Spears scored a run and drove in one.
Ard and Jada Partman scored a run each.
Fussell was the winning pitcher.
Franklinton led 7-4 after five innings and tacked on five more in the sixth to go up by eight. Springfield scored twice in the sixth for the 12-6 final.
