Quartet of local teams headed to playoffs

The LHSAA boys’ basketball playoffs start this week and four teams from Washington Parish have made it to the postseason.
Franklinton is the No. 21 seed in Class 4A and the Demons are facing 12th-seeded Huntington at 7 p.m. on Friday. The winner will face either fifth-seeded Carencro or No. 28 Pearl River.
Bogalusa reached the Class 3A playoffs as the No. 28 seed. The Lumberjacks are going against fifth-seeded Abbeville at 7 p.m. Friday. The winner will play either No. 12 Green Oaks or 21st-seeded Sterlington.
In Class 1A, Varnado is the 19th-seeded team. The Wildcats will take to the road and are headed to face No. 14 Plain Dealing at 7 p.m. on Friday. The victor will compete against either third-seeded Jonesboro-Hodge or No. 30 Oberlin.
In Class B, Mt. Hermon School is No. 27 and is will be going against sixth-seeded J.S. Clark Leadership Academy on Friday at 6 p.m. The winner will play either No. 11 Glenmora or 22nd-seeded Oak Hill.
