Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks were victorious over Loranger and Archbishop Hannan in District 7-3A competition held last Wednesday and Friday.
The Lumberjacks defeated Loranger, 54-45, at home.
Jaylen Brickmore led the Lumberjacks with 15 points.
DaJuan Powell and T.J. Peyton scored eight each while Quientay had seven, Chance Turner tallied six, Josh Taylor posted three, Raheem Roberts, Jarvis Dawson and Karry Conerly posted two each and Tony Harris added one in the victory.
“Big district win for us,” Bogalusa coach Randall Ginn said. “Team effort. Balanced scoring. Didn’t fall behind in first quarter like we’ve done past two games previously. Defended really well in the half court without as much reaching and didn’t use as much full court pressure.”
Two days later, Bogalusa topped Archbishop Hannan, 62-61, on the road.
Bogalusa was down one with 24 seconds left.
Taylor inbounded the ball to Brickmore underneath for the go-ahead bucket.
The Lumberjacks forced a turnover with 4.8 seconds left under Hannan’s goal. The Hawks had fouls to give before Bogalusa was in the bonus, so the Lumberjacks had to inbound it three times to run out the last few seconds.
Ginn said it is a huge win for their program.
“We are the only district team to beat them on their court this year and last year,” Ginn said. “This put us at a 29 power rating with one game remaining before the playoffs.
Brickmore was the game’s leading scorer with 22 points.
Peyton put up 10 points.
Turner posted seven while Henry, Taylor and Dawson all recorded six each and Roberts had two and Harris added one for Bogalusa.
