Varnado loses 2 District 8-1A contests

Varnado’s Lady Cats suffered a pair of District 8-1A losses in games held Friday and Monday.
The Lady Cats had a 101-25 loss to 2017-18 Division IV state runner-up Houma Christian School, which was ranked No. 2 last week’s unofficial LHSAA Division IV unofficial power rankings, in Friday’s road game.
Jamonica Dillon had seven points to lead Varnado. She made two 3-pointers.
Jalisa Jackson had five points while Javonnie Bickham and TaMarya Bell posted four each and Kazia McGowan tallied three. Jackson and McGowan made a 3-pointer each.
On Monday, Varnado lost to West St. John, 59-38, in the final home game of the regular season.
Dillon topped the Lady Cats with 11 points that included three 3-pointers.
Jakirya Daggs posted 10 points.
Bickham and Jackson posted five points each while McGowan and Destiny Keys added two each.
