Franklinton falls to Lakeshore in District 8-4A contest on Tuesday

MANDEVILLE — Franklinton suffered an 87-69 loss to 22-3 Lakeshore in a District 8-4A road game held Tuesday.
The Demons got off to a strong start, as they scored the game’s first seven points.
Albert Browhaw split free throws 23 seconds into the game. Avant Monnie then made 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions from the top of the key and the left corner and Franklinton had a 7-0 lead with 6:37 left in the first quarter.
Ben Kugler scored Lakeshore’s first four points, trimming the lead to three.
Browhaw made a backcourt steal and hit the layup and the Demons were up 9-4 at the 4:15 mark.
Lakeshore’s Justino Vasquez made two free throws, Monnie was good on a 3-pointer and Lakeshore went on a 5-0 run with Colby Parker hitting a field goal and Brendan Perry making a 3-pointer. Franklinton held a 12-11 lead with 1:36 on the clock.
Franklinton led 16-13 through one quarter.
Following the 12-11 score, neither team led by more than five until there was under a minute left in the first half.
Lakeshore took its first lead at 34-31 with 2:19 to go in the first half.
The Titans maintained that margin at 36-33 with 1:08 on the clock when Lakeshore scored the half’s final six points.
Parker made a 3-pointer with 52 seconds left and Kugler was good from beyond the arc with 38 seconds on the clock.
It was 42-33 at halftime.
“The last minute and a half, it was a two-point game and turned into a nine-point game and we weren’t able to overcome it,” Franklinton coach Brad Oestriecher said.
Lakeshore made it 45-35 with 7:04 left in the third quarter and the Titans went on an 8-2 run to get a 53-37 advantage. Parker made a steal and B.J. Foster hit the layup and got fouled. He missed the free throw, but had put his team up 47-35 with 6:20 left. Kugler made a 3-pointer to make it a 15-point game before Kian Conerly made a jumper and Kugler hit another 3-pointer and it was 53-37 with 4:26 to go.
Franklinton was unable to get the margin into single digits after that.
The Titans extended its lead to 64-43 through three quarters in the win.
T.Y. Pope led Franklinton with 17 points, which included a 3-pointer.
Monnie tallied 11 points. He made three 3-pointers.
Cornelius had 10 points and he was good on one 3-pointer.
Browhaw recorded eight points while Conerly and Josh Boughton posted six each, Lavan Smith had five and Jaheim Jefferson and Deairreous added three each. Boughton, Jefferson and Magee all made a 3-pointer.
Kugler led all scorers with 22 points. He made five 3-pointers.
Hunter Dean posted 13 points.
B.J. Foster tallied 12.
Brendan Perry had 11 and he was good on a trio of 3-pointers.
Parker and Vasquez recorded eight each while Chris Fowler tallied four, Justin McCullom had three and Dylan Gardache, Norris McClure and Zack Hayes all added two. Parker made a pair of 3-pointers while McCullom had one.
