Bowling Green hangs on to defeat Wayne Academy in district game

Bowling Green School’s Buccaneers hung on to top Wayne Academy, 50-47, in district competition held Tuesday at home.
The Buccaneers led 48-46 late in the game. Wayne went to the free-throw line with a chance to tie, but made 1-of-2. Drew Wagner grabbed the rebound with 1.5 seconds left, got fouled and made both free throws. Wayne Academy tried a last-second heave from half court, but missed.
Wagner scored 12 points for Bowling Green in a balanced scoring attack. Wagner had a double-double, as he grabbed 10 rebounds. He also had an assist, a steal and he blocked a shot.
Jackson Dobraska led all scorers with 14 points. Dobraska pulled down six boards, dished out an assist and made five steals. He made two 3-pointers.
Jace Schexnider posted 11 points, two assists and a steal. Schexnider hit two 3-pointers.
Rece Dillon had seven points, two rebounds and one assist. Dillon made a 3-pointer.
Braden Edwards tallied six points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Nathan Jenkins added a rebound in the victory.
