Varnado victorious over St. Martin’s, defeated by Independence

Varnado’s Wildcats split games that took place on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Wildcats had nine players hit the scoring column in a 53-20 victory over St. Martin’s Episcopal in District 8-1A competition on the road Wednesday.
Kevis Brooks led the way with 11 points for the Wildcats. He made a 3-pointer.
Kim McGowan and Jaheim Hooks posted nine points each while Adrian Bickham recorded eight, Javon Bickham and Elizah Miller tallied four each, Jhaquawn McConnell and Trevon Haynes had three each and Brandon Lee added two in the victory. McGowan made a trio of 3-pointers while Hooks, McConnell, Brooks and Haynes all made one.
The next day, Varnado suffered a 56-51 loss to Independence at home in non-district action.
Lee posted 11 points to lead the Wildcats.
Adrian Bickham had 10.
Hooks, McGowan and D’Myjay Bickham all posted seven, Javon Bickham recorded six, and McConnell added four. McGowan and D’Myjay Bickham made two 3-pointers each.
