Dean Bradley Jarrell entered the world at 9:43 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, weighing 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and measuring 20 and a quarter inches long.

Parents Katelynn Danos and Eric Jarrell were excited to learn that Dean was Washington Parish’s first baby of 2019.

“I’m proud,” said mom, Katelynn Danos. “He actually came on his own. I was cooking the cabbage, and I told my sister I thought I needed to go to the hospital to get checked. My contractions started getting closer and closer, and I was like, ‘Okay, we’re going to have a baby today.’”

Our Lady of the Angels presented Dean and his family with a New Year baby basket filled with gifts and new baby necessities.

“We chose to deliver at Our Lady of the Angels because I’m from Washington Parish. We live in Franklinton, and this is the baby hospital,” Danos said. “I chose Dr. Gallaspy as my doctor. This is my fourth baby. I’ve delivered at other highly rated hospitals, and I can honestly say if I were to rate Our Lady of the Angels against the others, it would be pretty close. They’re right on the money.

“He’s healthy. I’m healthy. We’re just waiting for the go-ahead to go home so we can introduce him to his brothers and sister.”

Eric Jarrell looked down at his new son as he rocked him, saying, “I’m happy. His name is Dean Bradley, and he’s already breaking records.”

Dr. Maria Christina Buenaflor, Our Lady of the Angels Obstetrics and Gynecology, delivered Dean, with the help of delivery nurses, Michele Welch and Brenda Metzler.
