Trio of Lady Bucs selected all-MAIS softball players

Three Bowling Green School softball players were selected as Class AAA All-MAIS players.
Senior Breanna Tobey, junior Madelyn Burch and freshman Cassidy Spears were selected to the team.
Tobey was the District 4AAA Most Valuable Player, a first-team all-district shortstop and she made the MAIS All-Star Team.
Tobey is a Belhaven University signee.
This season, Tobey hit .414 with a .497 on base percentage. Tobey recorded 10 doubles, two homers, 20 runs batted in and she scored 38 runs. She stole 18 bases in as many attempts. Tobey struck out only seven times in 135 plate appearances.
Tobey had a .967 fielding percentage. She made just three errors this season.
Burch was the District 4AAA defensive MVP this season and a first-team all-district pitcher.
Burch pitched to a 20-10 record with a 1.89 earned run average. Burch struckout 242 hitters and walked just 36 over 156 innings. Batters hit just .186 against Burch.
At the plate, Burch was a .275 hitter with 21 runs batted in.
Spears was district’s offensive MVP and a top-team first baseman.
This season, Spears recorded a .512 batting average with a .587 on base percentage.
Spears doubled 20 times and tripled twice. She hit six homers, drove in 39 and scored 28 runs. Spears struck out just seven times in 125 plate appearances. Spears had a .967 fielding percentage, as she committed just three errors.
This season, Bowling Green posted a 22-13 record. Ten of the 13 losses were to either state champs or state runner-ups.
The Lady Buccaneers captured the District 4AAA title and came up one win short of playing for the state title.
