Varnado’s Adrian Bickham is an all-star.
The senior has made the inaugural Louisiana Gridiron Football All-Star Game.
“It was an honor to be requested to play in this,” Bickham said. “I get to have my school recognized and get them out there and hopefully some more of my teammates as well.”
Bickham said he is very excited.
“I get to play football. I like basketball, but I love football,” Bickham said.
This season, Bickham played a hybrid defensive lineman/outside linebacker spot defensively and he was an offensive tackle.
This season, Bickham made 64 tackles, 14 for loss and he had eight sacks.
Bickham is a first-team all-district defensive lineman and second-team all-district offensive tackle in the 8-1A league.
Last week, Bickham signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Rice University.
Bickham said he will be playing the hybrid spot in the all-star game and in college.
Bickham talked about his key to success.
“My mentality,” Bickham said. “Just the way I go about things. Just never leave a rock unturned, live to the fullest and give it all you got.”
Varnado coach Anthony Hicks praised Bickham.
“Adrian was our rock,” Hicks said. “He was a solid contributor on the offensive and defensive side, especially on the lines. Without him, Brandon Lee and TyDarrious Myers, we would have little to no production with moving the ball inside the trenches. I’m just proud of all of his accomplishments he has earned.”
The Louisiana Gridiron Football All-Star game was scheduled to take place Saturday, Dec. 29 at Wildcat Stadium on the campus of Louisiana College in Pineville, but was moved up to Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. because of severe weather forcast on Dec. 29.
Tickets will be sold outside of the gate. The prices are $10 each, $5 for children 12-under and $5 for active duty military/veterans/first responders with a valid ID.
