Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks suffered a 67-53 loss to undefeated Pearl River in a home game that took place on Thursday.
T.J. Peyton and Chance Turner scored 12 points each to lead the Lumberjacks. Both players made a pair of 3-pointers.
Josh Taylor posted nine while DaJuan Powell tallied six, Quientay Henry and Raheem Gamble posted five each and Charles Taylor and Shad Gamble recorded two each. Taylor made three 3-pointers while Powell had two and Henry recorded one from beyond the arc.
“PR is undefeated (11-0) and has very good shooters,” Bogalusa coach Randall Ginn. “We closed out hard on Blake Costello (the second best player in that district (8-4A) after (Franklinton’s) T.Y. (Pope)) and made him drive the ball. Well that he did, he shot 16 free throws because our helpside was late arriving. We played extremely hard with great effort. We’ve got to find a way to get a little more scoring.”
Ginn added that his team made more threes than Pearl River. That was 10-9.
“However our lack of height leads to a lot of missed twos and not as many offensive rebound opportunities. They shot 20-29 free throws, we shot 3-8,” Ginn said.
