Numerous teams compete in event at Franklinton

Franklinton held its annual basketball tournament last Wednesday through Saturday.
Five girls games involving local teams took place over the four days.
Two local games were held on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Varnado lost to defending Class 3A state champion Loranger, 50-22, in the first local game.
Javannie Bickham led Varnado with nine points and she made a 3-pointer.
Tanisha Brister tallied seven while JaKyra Daggs posted four and Destiny Keys added two. Brister recorded a 3-pointer.
Pine defeated Bogalusa in the next local game, 29-19.
McKayla Jordan led the Lady Raiders with 10 points.
Makia Clark recorded seven while Elizabeth Barber posted four, Jasmine Crosby had three, Kay Kay Ginn and Kalli Tullier posted two each and Alyssa Phelps added one. Crosby made a 3-pointer.
Deranique Lee led the Lady Jacks with seven points. She made a 3-pointer.
Tanya Brown posted five points while Prayja Bickham had four, Shatiana Gamble posted two and Chloe Foster added one. Brown made a 3-pointer.
One local game was held Thursday with Varnado falling to Slidell, 54-24.
Javannie Bickham topped Varnado with 11 points and she posted a trio of 3-pointers.
Jalisa Jackson had four points while Brittany Smith tallied three points and Brister and Kasia McGowan added two. Smith made a 3-pointer.
Another local contest took place on Friday.
Franklinton won against Bogalusa, 54-23.
Danaria Magee led all scorers with 20 points, while Kaniya Dillon posted 14 points.
Miriam Tate had seven while Addison Carter posted five and Jalyn Bickham and Abby Cothern posted four each. Tate, Carter and Cothern all made one 3-pointer.
Brown led Bogalusa with 17 points and made three 3-pointers.
Lee posted four and Foster added two. Lee was good one a 3-point attempt.
The final local game was Saturday and it was a Pine victory over Varnado, 45-24.
Jordan and Haleigh Temples were Pine’s leading scorers with 10 points each.
Phelps tallied eight points while Hailey Martin had seven, Kelsey Jenkins posted three, Tullier, Sarah Lyons and Eliza Seals all posted two points and Barber added one.
Jamonica Dillon topped Varnado with seven points that included a 3-pointer.
Jakirya Daggs posted six points and Javonnie Bickham recorded four, while JaMarya Bell and Kazia McGowan had two each and Brister and Keys added one each.
