Pine High School’s McKayla Jordan

Pine’s McKayla Jordan is a senior and plays for the Lady Raiders’ basketball team. Jordan plays guard and forward.
“Just a great kid,” Pine coach Jessica Barber said. “Been in this community her whole life. I’ve known her my whole life. We were always looking forward to the opportunity to come back and be able to coach her. Very well respected by her teammates and her peers. Just a great leader, on and off the court. I think this year will be one of her best years as it relates to basketball.”

What do you enjoy most about playing your sport?
I just really love the game and being part of a team. Not only do I love the team, but the people in the stands.

What do you like best about being a student athlete?
My team. They are like my family and I get to represent my school and the challenge between school and being a student athlete.

Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
Definitely my grandmother (Valerie Jordan). She always pushes me to be the best I can be, and after every game, she tells me what I’ve done right and what I need to work on. She always believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Former UConn basketball player and current Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi because she led her team to many victories.

Favorite team?
Pine Raiders.

Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
Everyone is so close and you get support from many people.
