Lady Raiders post 2-1 record in tourney

Four teams from Washington Parish competed in last week’s annual Mt. Hermon Tournament.
Mt. Hermon’s girls and boys teams and Pine girls and boys teams played in the event that took place last Wednesday through Saturday.
Pine’s Lady Raiders went 2-1 in the event.
Mt. Hermon’s boys went 1-2 while Mt. Hermon’s girls and Pine’s boys were 0-3.
Pine’s Lady Raiders suffered a 54-21 loss to defending Class 3A state champion Loranger in the tournament’s first game.
The Lady Raiders got off to a tough start, as Loranger’s defense was solid.
Loranger jumped out to a 42-1 lead.
Pine’s first field goal was by Kelsey Jenkins with 1:53 left in the second quarter.
It was 45-5 at halftime.
Kiyasha Clark, Kalli Tullier and Diamond Dawson all had three points. Tullier and Dawson hit a 3-pointer each.
Elizabeth Barber, Hailey Martin, Alyssa Phelps, Jenkins, Raina Crosby and McKayla Jordan all posted two.
Pine rebounded the following day with a 44-36 victory over Mt. Hermon.
Pine’s Kay Kay Ginn all scorers with 16 points that included four 3-pointers.
Clark posted eight points while Jordan had seven, Dawson tallied five, Tullier and Barber scored four each and Sarah Lyons added two in the win. Tullier and Barber hit a three each.
Destiny Lewis and Kalei Hughes led Mt. Hermon with 10 each. Hughes hit a trio of 3-pointers.
Macey Applegate recorded eight points while Ansley Knight put up three, Sikoya Jackson and Sydnei Tullos had two each and Bailey Fortenberry added one for the Lady Jackets.
Pine captured its final game in the tournament was a 38-34 victory over Archbishop Hannan on Saturday.
Mt. Hermon’s boys lost its first two games before capturing the final contest.
The Yellow Jackets opened with a 60-42 win over Jewel Sumner.
Jeremy Bickham scored 13 points to top Mt. Hermon.
Keondre Bunch posted seven points while Michquel Spears and Tevin Williams recorded six points each, Travelle Brumfield and Tristan Brumfield had three each and Kee’Yontreh Williams and Rashad Oatis had two each.
On Thursday, Mt. Hermon lost to Loranger, 43-36.
Tevin Williams was Mt. Hermon’s leading scorer with 16 points.
Spears posted nine points while Bunch and Bickham had four each and Tristan Brumfield added two. Spears hit a pair of threes.
Mt. Hermon defeated Pine, 68-40, in the Yellow Jackets’ last contest of the event.
Tevin Williams scored a game-high 26 points that included a 3-pointer.
Spears had 13 and hit three 3-pointers.
Bunch put up 12 points and hit a pair of shots from beyond the arc.
Travell Brumfield posted six points while Bickham had four, Kee’Yontreh Williams recorded three points and LaQuarry Alexander and Oatis added two each. Travell Brumfield hit two 3-points while Kee’Yontreh Williams made one.
Pine’s Jordan Anderson led the Raiders with 17 points, which included a 3-pointer.
Tristan Jones had 13 and hit three 3-pointers.
Chance Woodward posted eight points and Markell Cotton added two for the Raiders.
Pine came up short in Thursday’s game against The Church Academy, 46-44.
The Raiders’ last game was a 69-51 loss to Jewel Sumner.
Besides the game against Pine, Mt. Hermon’s Yellow Jackets lost to The Church Academy and Jewel Sumner.
The contest against The Church Academy was 50-39 on Wednesday.
Hughes led the team with 13 points.
Jackson posted nine while Applegate and Lewis had eight each, Knight recorded two and Tullos added one. Jackson made a three.
Their final game of the tournament was a 53-27 loss to Jewel Sumner.
Applegate and Hughes posted eight each to top Mt. Hermon. Hughes hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Fortenberry had five, Knight recorded four and Jackson added two. Fortenberry hit a shot from beyond the arc.
