Pine’s Lady Raiders were defeated in the Division IV volleyball state playoffs by Haynes Academy, 25-15, 25-8, 25-15 on the road Tuesday, Oct. 30.
“This year has been our most successful season yet,” Pine coach Tammy Voth said. “We had a 10-11 season. Our girls have worked very hard and have made great improvements. We are looking forward to continued improvement next season and an even better season then. I am extremely proud of our team and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Pine volleyball.”
This year’s team had two seniors — Allison Gunkel and Erin Kennedy.
“These girls have been with the team for several seasons and they were both very important assets to the team,” Voth said. “Allison has been our setter now for two years and has done an amazing job while Erin has been an outside hitter and has done a wonderful job. Both girls will be missed next year. I have truly enjoyed coaching these two awesome young women.”
In the match, Gunkel had eight serves, Makia Clark had seven serves and a tip, Erin Kennedy had four serves and a kill, Leah Ladner had four serves and a kill, Kalli Tullier had four serves and a kill, and Reese Polk had three serves.
Pine was the 22nd-seeded team.
Sixth-seeded Haynes Academy reached the quarterfinals before falling to University Lab, 25-11, 25-17, 29-27.
