Bogalusa’s Wager top local finisher in Metro Championships

Bogalusa’s Dustin Wager was the top finisher from Washington Parish in the 2018 Northshore Metro Cross Country Championships that took place Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Wager ran the three-mile race in 18 minutes, 48 seconds.
Runners from two parish schools — Bogalusa and Franklinton — took part in the meet.
Bogalusa’s Donald Lewis ran 88th in 20:41.
Aden Hartzog was 123rd and was Franklinton’s top runner after tallying a 22:36.
Bogalusa teammates Jaylan Scott, Tyran Johnson and Davin Phillips were 147th, 149th and 150th with times of 24:48, 24:45 and 24:46. Franklinton teammates Brandon Miller and Braxton King were 165th and 168th after clocking times of 26:46 and 28:43 and Bogalusa’s Dany Doung was 172nd in 34:38.
Belle Chasse’s Louden Boudreaux captured the event in 15:54.
St. Thomas Aquinas’ John Ross Donnes ran second in 16:16, followed by Christ Episcopal School’s Jake Tournillon’s 16:31, Isidore Newman’s Robert Freeman’s 16:40 and Belle Chasse’s Isaiah Howell’s 16:49. The event featured 173 runners.
Belle Chasse was victorious for team honors with 41 points.
Ponchatoula was second with 85, followed by Isidore Newman’s 110, Metairie Park Country Day’s 111 and Christ Episcopal’s 124 points. Sixteen teams were eligible for team honors.
Schools needed five runners to be eligible for team honors.
Bogalusa was 15th with 413 points.
Both schools will be running next in their state meets on Tuesday at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
Bogalusa is in Class 3A and Franklinton is in Class 4A.
