Franklinton’s Karina Alfaro took 18th place in the District 8-4A Meet that was Monday at the Bogue Chitto State Park.
Alfaro completed the three-mile race in 32 minutes, 31 seconds.
Teammates Dawn Kehoe, India Blackburn, Danielle Gomez and Jessica Walters were 24th through 27th, after finishing with times of 41:17, 41:45, 49:14 and 49:33.
The top five finishers were St. Scholastica Academy runners.
Brooke Naccari ran a 21:39 to win the race.
Katie Callura was second at 23:13, followed by Madeline Bechac’s 23:37, Sarah Kate Hendry’s 24:01 and Emille McHale’s 24:09. There were 27 competitors in the event.
St. Scholastica Academy won team honors with a perfect score of 15.
Lakeshore was second with 47 points and Franklinton was third at 120.
Three teams qualified for team honors. Five runners were needed to qualify.
The next meet for the Lady Demons are the Metro Championships, which will be Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas.
