Light football schedule this week

Bowling Green School has reached the final week of its regular season and LHSAA enters week eight, as four local schools continue their season over the next two days.
This week’s football schedule features four games with three games tomorrow and one more on Friday. All games begin at 7 p.m.
Two teams are off this week.
Bogalusa has a bye. The Lumberjacks will continue their season on Friday, Oct. 26 in a District 7-3A contest against Jewel Sumner at home. They won last week’s game over Loranger, 18-12, in overtime.
Ben’s Ford Christian School played its final regular season game last week and lost to Sylva Bay Academy, 41-13. The Eagles went 2-7 this season.

Bowling Green School at Columbia Academy
Bowling Green School’s Buccaneers are headed to Columbia Academy to face the Cougars tomorrow in a game that will determine the District 4AAA champion in the regular season finale.
Both teams won their only league game, which was against Wayne Academy.
Bowling Green defeated Wayne, 19-0, on Sept. 7 and Columbia defeated Wayne, 20-6, last week.
“If we play hard and we play physical like we last week, it gives us a chance,” Bowling Green coach Boomer Nunez said.
Bowling Green School enters with a 6-3 overall record while Columbia is 3-6.
The Bucs have a chance to have two 1,000-yard rushers and a 1,000-yard receiver. They already have a 2,000-yard passer.
Johntae McDowell has thrown for 2,247 yards with 15 touchdowns. He also has 921 rushing yards.
Larry Dillon has run for 864 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Rashaan Duke leads the receivers with 59 catches for 864 yards and six touchdowns.
Cade Knight begins this week with 33 receptions for 518 yards and a touchdown.
Cameron Bell has tallied 25 catches for 450 yards and five touchdowns.
Bell led the defense last week with 21 tackles, 15 solos and he forced two fumbles for the Buccaneers.

Last week
Bowling Green lost to Simpson Academy, 35-20. Columbia Academy defeated Wayne Academy, 20-6.

Last year
Bowling Green School lost to Columbia Academy, 46-12.

Recent history
The teams have met every year since at least 2013. Since 2013, Columbia has won every game.

Franklinton at Lakeshore
Franklinton’s Demons travel to Lakeshore to take on the 2017 Class 4A state runner-up in a District 7-4A game Friday.
This is the league opener for both teams.
Franklinton enters this week with a 3-4 while Lakeshore is 7-0. Lakeshore is second in the Class 4A poll by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
“They do a good job offensively of putting a lot of pressure on you in a lot of different ways,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said. “Jacob Bernard is obviously a good player. He does a lot of good things for them. Our emphasis is focusing on us. We respect our opponent, but we have clean up the areas we’re struggling at as opposed to focusing on what they’re great at.”
Jasper LaSalle has thrown for 884 yards with seven touchdowns. LaSalle has also run for 125 yards and a touchdown.
Mike Martin begins with the week with 734 yards on the ground and 13 touchdowns. He also has 41 receiving yards with seven catches.
Duke Bell leads the receivers in receptions and yards at 23 for 237. He has scored two touchdowns.
Shayland Allen has 21 receptions for 238 yards and a touchdown.
Kian Conerly is at 11 catches for 233 yards and three scores. Conerly has run for 218 yards on 33 attempts and three touchdowns. Conerly also leads the defense with 37 tackles and tops the unit with two interceptions.
Spencer Lambert has the other receiving touchdown to go with four receptions for 60 yards.
Defensively, besides Conerly, Grant Thomas is second on the team in tackles with 36.
Malachi Martin has 25, followed by Jayonne Hart’s 24 and Chase Sheridan’s 20.
Jacob Turnage and Noah Breland are tops on the team in sacks with two each.
Malachi Martin, Derek Shows, Ben Bickham and Thomas all have one.
Avant Monnie is second to Conerly in picks with two.
Thomas, Cotton and Terion Partman all have one interception.
Breland has two fumble recoveries.
Hart, Justyn Miller, Monnie, Carson Ragas, Turnage, Sheridan and Dickerson all have one fumble recovery.
Lakeshore has won 19-straight regular season games. Lakeshore’s last regular season loss to Franklinton, 27-21, in 2016.

Last week
Franklinton lost to Neville, 48-20. Lakeshore defeated H.L. Bourgeois, 49-0.

Last year
Franklinton lost to Lakeshore, 59-22.

Recent history
The teams have played each other since 2011, which was the first year the Titans were in a district. Lakeshore opened in 2009. The football team was junior varsity that year and played a varsity schedule in 2010.
Franklinton is 5-2 against Lakeshore in the seven meetings.

Northlake Christian School at Pine
Pine is back home tomorrow and faces Northlake Christian School in a District 9-2A contest.
Pine enters with a 4-3 overall record and 2-2 in league play. Northlake Christian is 1-6 overall and 1-3 in district play.
Last week, Logan Temples threw for 238 yards and a touchdown.
Jordan Anderson caught five passes for 96 yards. He had a rushing touchdown.
Logan Leger posted four catches for 67 yards.
Markell Cotton tallied 57 receiving yards on four catches.
Adrianuen Johnson rushed for 100 yards on 14 carries.
Defensively, Drake Westmoreland intercepted a pass to seal last week’s win.
Larry Williams recovered a fumble.
Jonkez Dillon had a sack.
Pine coach Bradley Seal said the Wolverines have a really really good defense.
The team has allowed 20-or-fewer points four times this season.

Last week
Pine defeated Independence, 24-20. Northlake Christian School lost to St. Thomas Aquinas, 6-3.

Last year
Pine defeated Northlake Christian School, 28-6.

West St. John at Varnado
Varnado’s Wildcats are at home tomorrow, taking on defending Class 1A state champion West St. John in a District 7-1A contest.
Varnado is 1-5 overall this season and 1-1 in league play. West St. John enters with a 5-2 overall mark and 2-0 in district. West St. John is No. 7 in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 1A poll.
Last week, Korterrius Mingo ran for 120 yards on nine carries.
Zantonio Peters tallied 107 yards on eight attempts.
Kennis Loper posted 85 yards on four carries.
Caleb Allen recorded 87 yards on five rushes.
Jaylen Peters and Zantonio Peters scored two touchdowns each.
Jep Bonnette, Allen and Loper all had one touchdown.

Last week
Varnado defeated St. Martin’s Episcopal, 59-0. West St. John won against Covenant Christian Academy, 44-18.
