Franklinton celebrated Homecoming Night with a 21-14 victory over Tylertown out of Mississippi on Friday.
Mike Martin continued his stellar season, going 113 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns. He also completed a pass for 35 yards.
“He was really good in the second half and I thought he dominated in the fourth quarter,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said. “Late in the game, we just turned and handed off to him. The offensive line did a great job of opening up some holes.”
Jasper LaSalle threw for 21 yards and a touchdown and he ran for 32 yards.
Spencer Lambert caught a pair of passes for 41 yards and a touchdown. Shayland Allen made two catches for 17 yards.
Malachi Martin led the defense in tackles with six and he had a sack.
Jayonne Hart and Ben Bickham had five stops each. Kian Conerly, Jacob Turnage and Corinthious Dickerson all had four tackles. Turnage tallied a sack. Conerly intercepted two passes. Dickerson recovered a fumble.
Lamar Gray had a pass defensed.
“I thought our Dline harassed the quarterback all night,” Barber said. “Kian Conerly came up with two huge interceptions that flipped the field for us. We scored off of both of those interceptions. Obviously, game-changing plays.”
The Demons are 2-2 this season while Tylertown is 3-3.
Franklinton is back in action on Friday when they host 3-1 and 2018 Division II state semifinalist St. Thomas More.
