Ben’s Ford victorious over Benton

Ben’s Ford captured a 34-8 District 3AA opening victory over Benton on the road Friday.
“All around, just a good team win,” Ben’s Ford coach Dean King said. “We finally got over that hump. They played hard. For the past two weeks, we’ve got a good thing going. We’ve looked real good passing the football and Friday night, we were able to have a good running game. We put our big guard Myron Weary at fullback and he ran the ball well.”
Tyler Winstead threw for 284 yards with three touchdowns and he rushed for a score.
Chase Penton completed his only pass attempt for three yards and he threw for a two-point conversion.
Weary ran for 26 yards on four attempts and a touchdown.
Tucker Keating made two receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Justin Moore caught two passes for 90 yards and score. Jordan Provost had two catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. Ernesto Woods recorded three receptions for 21 yards and he caught a two-point conversion.
Jarrett Williams led the defense with 13 tackles and a forced fumble.
Preston Lee recorded eight stops, four for a loss and he recovered a fumble. Austin Stogner made eight tackles, one for a loss of yardage.
Isaish Bolton and Payton Miller posted seven stops each. Isaac Wascom had three stops and a fumble recovery. Joshua Fairley posted a tackle and a sack.
Ben’s Ford is 2-4. Benton is 0-6. The Eagles are home Friday against Wayne (3-3).
