Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Eagles suffered a 54-26 loss to Brookhaven Academy at home Friday.
The Eagles trailed 14-7 after the first quarter. Both of Brookhaven’s touchdowns came on kickoff returns.
The score went to 40-20 at halftime as Brookhaven brought back another kick for a score in the second period.
“I thought offensively and defensively we played very well,” Ben’s Ford Christian School coach Dean King said. “We had two dropped passes, one could’ve been a score for us. Defensively, we played well. Brookhaven is known for the passing game. Coach (Ron) Rushing does a great job with them. If we don’t have three kick returns for touchdowns, which we worked all week on, it’s a 21-20 ballgame at halftime.”
Ben’s Ford Christian School quarterback Tyler Winstead threw for 321 yards with two touchdowns and a two-point conversion while adding 26 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Justin Moore led the receivers with six catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. He also intercepted a pass on the defensive side of the ball.
Jordan Provost posted four receptions for 56 yards.
Tucker Keating caught four passes for 53 yards and had a two-point conversion.
Alston Moore had three catches for 53 yards with a two-point conversion. He also ran nine times for 22 yards and a score.
Jarrett Williams caught a pass for 63 yards. Defensively, he was the team leader with 12 tackles.
Ernesto Woods posted three catches for 38 yards.
Isaiah Bolton and Payton Miller recorded nine tackles each, defensively. Bolton had a sack.
Isaac Wascom tallied nine tackles.
Ben’s Ford will be on the road Friday night to play its District 3AA opener against Benton Academy.
