Ben’s Ford Christian School lost to Centreville Academy, 40-0, in a road game that was held Friday at Centreville.
Ben’s Ford trailed 8-0 after the first quarter.
Eagles coach Dean King said his team played well defensively in the first period. He said the unit made two big fourth-down stops on back-to-back series from the 2. Centreville’s touchdown was off of a fumble recovery, after Ben’s Ford fumbled an option in the end zone, and Centreville added the two-point conversion after the second stop.
The defense allowed just one first-half touchdown. Centreville recovered a fumble in the end zone in the second period.
It was 24-0 at halftime.
Centreville returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown.
“Centreville is a good football team,” King said. “I thought we played a good first half.”
Tyler Winstead threw for 5 yards on 7-of-13 passing. Tucker Keating led the receivers with three catches for 42 yards.
Alston Moore tallied 24 yards on the ground in 11 attempts.
Justin Moore had two receptions for 7 yards and Jordan Provost had two catches for 1 yard. Xavier Adams ran for 17 yards in his only carry.
Defensively, Jarrett Williams led the Eagles in tackles with nine.
Payton Miller posted eight stops.
Austin Stogner and Chase Penton tallied six stops each. Stogner made a sack.
Preston Lee and Josh Fairley forced a fumble each. Lee had three stops and Fairley had one.
Isaac Wascom and Brandon Sprehe both recovered a fumble. Wascom recorded three tackles and Sprehe made one.
Ben’s Ford is 1-3. The Eagles will host Brookhaven Academy on Friday. Brookhaven is 2-1 and is coming off of a 40-7 loss to Sylva Bay Academy.
