Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks suffered a 50-20 loss to Chalmette in a road game that took place Friday.
“Anytime you go on the road for a long road trip and play a team up in two classes, it’s difficult for you,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said. “I felt like I our guys played three good quarters instead of four, and in order to beat a good team, you have to play four good quarters. We had some mistakes that cost us in the second quarter with a bad snap on a punt and then they returned a kick back on us and they got an onside kick, so I felt like our special teams let us down and it’s hard to recover after that.
“I do think my kids still came out in the second half, and they played hard and didn’t quit. We’ve got to get a little more disciplined if we want to beat big 5A schools.”
Quarterback Josh Taylor completed 11 of his 21 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns.
Chas Smith led the Lumberjacks in rushing with 10 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for seven yards.
Tyrese Rousell and Jakyris McLemore caught a touchdown pass each. Rousell made two receptions for 70 yards while McLemore had one catch for 64 yards.
Cajdryn Forbes made three catches for 60 yards. Toby Robinson posted one catch for 32 yards.
Raheem Roberts had a reception for 12 yards and Dre’Toris Mark added one catch for 5 yards. Defensively, Roberts recorded five tackles.
Defensively, Clydeterrious Thompson topped the Lumberjacks with seven tackles.
Jyreyn Roberts posted seven stops.
Keltron Harry recorded six tackles, and Mike O’Ree added five stops and a sack.
Bogalusa is 1-1 and will return to action on Friday with a home game against Franklinton. The Demons are 0-2 after a 35-19 loss to Fontainebleau.
