Varnado’s Wildcats suffered a 13-6 loss to Class 3A Albany in Friday’s season opener that took place on the road.
Kievs Brooks scored Varnado’s touchdown on a 9-yard run.
Albany made a late stop to hang on for the win.
Varnado outgained Albany, 141-117. The Wildcats had 74 rushing yards and 67 yards through the air.
Albany led 13-0 at halftime. Brooks’ touchdown came in the third quarter.
Varnado travels to Pine on Friday. The Raiders defeated Central Catholic, 40-34, last Thursday.
