Bowling Green’s Buccaneers improved to 3-0 after a capturing a 28-19 victory over Silliman Institute in a road game held Friday.
“We were just worried because we didn’t get to practice much because of lightning. We had an hour and a half of practice all week, but the kids showed, by the way they played, their hard-nosed mentality,” Bowling Green coach Boomer Nunez said. “Silliman is well coached and the game was one of the most physical games I’ve been a part of in a while. Both teams were definitely feeling it the next day.”
Larry Dillon scored three rushing touchdowns for the Buccaneers. Kengie Gordon tallied the other touchdown for Bowling Green.
Defensively, Denzel Evans, Gordon and Jackson Dobraska led the team in tackles.
Jace Schexnider had a big interception in the end zone.
Bowling Green is 3-0 this season and opens District 4AAA play on Friday by hosting Wayne Academy. Wayne is 2-1 this year and defeated Heritage Christian Academy, 35-6, last week.
