Varnado will be at home tonight, hosting a three-team scrimmage that is set to begin at 6 p.m. as teams continue to get ready for the regular season.
“The goal for the upcoming scrimmage as well as the jamboree is to basically, get better by gaining experience,” Varnado coach Anthony Hicks said. “My coaching staff and I are going to evaluate these players based off their performances, and we are going head into season striving to eliminate penalties and maximize opportunities both the coaches and our players.”
Teams will run series of plays with a 20-minute quarter at the end.
In addition to Varnado, the scrimmage also features Livingston Collegiate and North Central.
Varnado will play in the first game of the Washington Parish Jamboree one week from today at 6 p.m. against Franklinton. The event will take place at Pine.
Varnado will begin regular season play on the road Friday, Aug. 31, against Albany.
